As Lakoff and Johnson (1980: 3) state in Metaphors We Live by, “our ordinary conceptual system, in terms of which we both think and act, is fundamentally metaphorical in nature.” From a linguistic point of view, metaphors not only exist in everyday language but in specialized discourse too, where they are frequently the result of interdisciplinary borrowings. The language of economics, replete with medical metaphors, is one of the most representative examples of this phenomenon. Ar veselību saistītas metaforas rakstos par ekonomiskiem jautājumiem

Konceptuālo metaforu teorija izsaka iespējamību par universālu metaforu eksistenci dažādās valodās. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija identificēt veselības metaforas rakstos par ekonomikas jautājumiem angļu un latviešu valodā un noskaidrot kā tās konceptualizē ar ekonomiku saistītas problēmas. Pētījums ir balstīts uz konceptuālās metaforu teorijas. Metaforu identifikācijai kontekstā tika izmantota deduktīvā metode un izpētīja tās no kvalitatīvās un kvantitatīvās perspektīvas. Tika atklāts, ka visbiežāk sastopamākās veselības metaforas bija problēma ir slimība/traucējumi un uzlabojums ir ārstēšana/atveseļošanās ar metaforiskajām izpausmēm ‘vājums’ un ‘atveseļošanās’. Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts metaforu lietojuma izmeklēšanai divu ASV laikrakstu (The Wall Street Journal un The New York Times) interneta vietnēs. Pētījums analizē konceptuālās metaforas lietojumu ziņu rakstos par 2016. ASV prezidenta vēlēšanām. Pētījuma mērķis ir izmeklēt konceptuālo metaforu nozīmi ASV prezidenta vēlēšanu konceptualizācijā. Pielietotā metode ir konceptuālo metaforu analīze. Apkopotie dati ļauj secināt, ka analizētajos rakstos koncetuālajām metaforām ir būtiska nozīme vēstījuma veidošanā.
Lakoff & Johnson lettori di Blumenberg? L'eredità della metaforologia nella teoria della metafora concettuale

This paper aims at showing the analogies between Hans Blumenberg’s Metaphorology and George Lakoff & Mark Johnson’s Conceptual Metaphor Theory. Starting from the analysis of the proportion for which ABSOLUTE METAPHOR: METAPHORICAL EXPRESSIONS = BACKGROUND METAPHOR: CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR, we propose to compare Blumenberg’s Metaphorology with Lakoff & Johnson’s Conceptual Metaphor Theory, outlining similarities and differences in reference to: (a) the fundamental notions on which the two theories are based, (b) the methods and (c) the relationship between language-thought-culture assumed by the two theories.
